Piramal Finance's AI Collections Went From ₹84 Crore to ₹1,019 Crore in a Year
Piramal Finance's Intelligent Collections platform hit ₹1,019 crore in monthly hands-free recoveries in Q1 FY27, twelve times its ₹84 crore a year earlier, as Jio Financial Services scales its own AI-native operating model.

Piramal Finance's Intelligent Collections platform recovered ₹1,019 crore in monthly hands-free collections in Q1 FY27 — twelve times the ₹84 crore it managed in Q1 FY26. The company says the platform is lowering operating costs and speeding recovery, with the gains flowing straight into the P&L.
Jio Financial Services is running its own AI-native build-out: roughly 130 AI agents handling risk, compliance and audit work, drawing on more than 800 behavioural attributes per customer to cut credit-assessment turnaround by 76%. It's targeting a 30% cut in operating costs from agentic AI.
Both companies say headcount hasn't shrunk. Piramal says it used AI tools to help hire more than 260 sales staff, and frames the technology as freeing people for judgment calls rather than replacing them — a claim the industry makes often enough that it's worth watching over several quarters rather than taking at face value.
The risk sits on the other side of the ledger: as underwriting and fraud detection lean more on internal models, a model failure becomes a regulatory event, not just an engineering one — the kind of thing that invites RBI scrutiny.
